one of my friends who picked up a 00 M5 had this included with his car brand new never installed. He sold it for 800 bucks, they are expensive as hell new (800-1000).

My Job Here is to ruin the cleanliness of the lines. Am I doing it right?

I don't think California would be kind to this car. . . But it is so damn sexy. I have always loved the E39's. I wanted to find a unicorn 5 series wagon with a manual for a while but as soon as I'd find any 5 series with a manual they were sold. Plus I don't really have the money for any potential break downs. . .
Another note, is $30,000 potentially a little much for this car with 81,000 miles?

this car bone stock would probably be priced at 20-23. These people IMO overprice these cars so bad.
A 100k mile 00 is worth about 12-14, a 100k mile 01 is immediately at 18 grand. All because its a post facelift car. Fuck that, I'm going to hunt for a 00 like my friend did, he got a 103k mile black car for 12,500 and its been fine so far.

I got my 100k 2003 for $14.5K. It's spotless, except a small dent in the boot lid.

Clear title. One accident, early in its life, damaged the driver's door, which was replaced with a new factory piece.
It was pristinely maintained (I have the entire two-owner service history) and babied (original clutch when I got it). So I did have a few maintenance items to take care of when I bought it: clutch (and everything that goes with it), broken headlight adjuster arm, fuel tank breather valve, and the steering rack bushings. 10K miles later the stock nav started to crap out (rebooted when warm) so I finally got around to replacing the entire system (went aftermarket) a couple weeks ago.
I was ready to pay $18K for the car (which is what it was listed at on M5board), then after driving the car and mentioning the clutch, the owner said, "I know I said $16K, so I'm willing to drop it another $1500 because of the clutch." I never asked if the original post was a typo or not. Just tried not to jump up and down with excitement while signing the paperwork and handing over the money.

sounds like you were at the right place at the right time. Most cars I see on M5board are priced over 20 grand then people bitch about how they can't sell them.

What a fucking deal man! That is a thing of dreams right there. Right place right time and with cash in hand got you a deal of a life time on a damn sweet car.

Cars with less than 100K quickly climb in price. There was a nice '03 closer to me with 75K on it. Asking $24K.
Some of those guys don't understand that aftermarket parts and maintenance costs ("I put over $20K into this car!") don't affect the market price. In many cases, it should drop your asking price.
One guy on there had an E39 with a 2JZ swap. He was still asking $25K, not realizing that he ruined the car and it was now worth $10K, if he was lucky. I wonder if it's still for sale.
